Fashion Obsessed

So yesterday I bought the biggest issue of Elle I have ever seen. It's a monster stuffed full of gold. So much fall fashion it is making me even more certain that I want to persure journalism in my future. Being apart of a magazine like this would be such an amazing experience! I would learn so much about the world around me and get to meet so many wonderful people. I for sure want to get involved in a paper or magazine here in the mountains soon - even as an intern - just to get some experience and decide is this is really what I want.

Boots and oversized sweaters/jackets with a scarf is going to be my outfit of choice this fall and winter. They are literally the perfect combination and I'm so excited! Also - oversized everything is the thing to do this Fall, according to Elle ;)

#Throwbackthursday

A ridiculous amount has happened here in the past month. The good and the bad, the impossible and the incredibly easy. Not only have I just found out that I get to stay in Breckenridge for the ski season, but I'm also not going to be out of school! Online classes are in my future and I'm actually so excited to get back into the student state of mind.

Being a student for me has always just been a way of life - and when I found out that I might not be able to take classes this Fall I almost had a break down. Yeah, summer is great when you don't have any homework or tests, but I am a super motivated person who wants to get my education out of the way ASAP.

I miss life two years ago, when I was going into my Senior Year and life was actually perfection. Nothing had gone wrong and the most traumatic experience in my life so far had been break ups with short-term high school boyfriends. I can't even imagine my life ever being that easy again, and that makes me kind of sad. I have to make so many life choices lately - involving school, money, living situations, relationships, and everything else a normal adult has to deal with. I guess it is a good wake-up call, but most of my friends aren't going to have to deal with this transition for a few more years. It is definitely making me a stronger individual though, and when the time comes for me to finish school and move out for real, I know I'll be prepared and ready to take on anything.

Let's swing back to the present really quick - Connor and I are headed to Red Rocks amphitheater tomorrow for a Pretty Lights concert! Can you say pumped?! We already saw Pretty Lights back in May at The Gorge in Washington, but this is the DJ's home state and venue - it's going to be insane. We were also hoping to go to a Seahawks vs. Broncos game on Saturday but the guy on Craigslist we were going to pick up the tickets from sold them... Super reliable people you find on the internet. Therefore, we're either going to try to find more people or just not go. It would kind of suck, because we were super excited - but life happens sometimes, and you can't always get what you want.

I'm going to throw some pictures on here from the past few adventures I've been having while living my Summit County Summer.

Hiking the Continental Divide a few weeks ago

<3

Hiking back down Mt. Baldy we ran into these little guys! I've never seen mountain goats before and was freaking out. The hike had points over 13,000 by the way.

The rodeo came to town! I was finally able to let the cowgirl in me out for the first time this summer.

Oh, and it's our official three month anniversary today. Yay!

Perfect Bedrooms

I have a new found love for bedrooms. I've been seeing pictures of all these crazy rooms on Pinterest and Tumblr for months, and I can't wait to have my own house so I can create the ultimate room.

The London Olympics

I can't believe they're finally here! Under two hours and it will be time for the Opening Ceremony. I am so excited! I'm a huge Olympics enthusiast and I wish I was back home in Seattle right now more that anything. Michael and I would probably have been playing Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games 2008 all morning. Then Mom and I would've baked some crazy USA themed pastries and I would've nestled down with my iPod app in hand keeping track of all the events as they went by.
But we can't always have what we want.
I'm going to have to make the best out of what I have here in my new temporary home and see how it goes!

I hope you all are as excited as I am! Tata for now mates.

Preparation

So since I'm going to be living as a ski bum this next winter, I might as well start planning what exactly that will entail.
I'm going to be living in Colorado in a resort town, basically every skiers dream, and I'm super stoked! I don't care what anyone says, but winter is definitely one of the best months for fashion. Layers upon layers can be used in different ways for the ultimate looks. I'm trying to get some ideas of what to buy now so that I won't be stuck in ski jackets and Uggs the whole season.

Big army jackets are always super cute when paired with skinny jeans and beanies because that way it doesn't hide your size.
The jean button-up under jackets is super in this fall and winter, lucky I picked myself one up a few months ago!
Trench coats over cute skirt outfits keeps an outfit cute without making it frumpy because of a big jacket on top.
As always, the rider boots with knee high socks over jeans or leggings is perfect for the cold weather.

Also, I'm going to dye my hair blonde when I have enough extra money. Yay!

M&C's Epic Road Trip part 1

Coming out of high school, every kid dreams about a massive road trip with their best friends or boyfriend/girlfriend, right? I know I did, and so did every other kid I knew at Shorecrest. So basically I attended my first year of college at WSU and about half way through I started talking to this guy I had met a few months ago that went to a high school not to far from mine. We hit it off and grew really close, even though we were 1,400 miles apart.. You see, he had moved to Colorado after high school, and I had stayed in state and went to a university. Months of talking every day and all night led to a plan. The ultimate plan. A road trip across half the United States, but we only had 9 days and limited finances to achieve it. We had to do it. Period. No questions asked.
For me it was going to be a life-changing, first independent choice I ever made, total and complete risk. I would be flying down to Denver to meet up with him 4 days after my freshman year ended and we would then proceed to drive across Colorado, Utah, Nevada, a corner of Arizona, up the California, Oregon, and Washington coast until we reached Seattle.
No big deal, right?
I went for it. I was in such a funk that entire year that I needed something to spark my life back into action. I bought my plane ticket some time in March and on May 9, 2012 I got on a plane at Sea-Tac airport and flew (by myself for the first time) to Denver. He was there waiting, as we planned, and everything went perfectly.
We lounged around his house in Breckenridge for a couple days, mapping out our route and figuring out where we were going to sleep each night.
On May 13, we headed out around 5pm to begin our adventure.
The scenery blew me away before we even left his town. This was taken at a gas station before we set out.

We drove well into the night, and what did we wake up to the next morning? Oh.. just Arches National Park in Moab, Utah. We pulled in when it was already pitch black and had no idea where we really were. All we knew was that we were in the parking lot for the most well known piece of land in all of the Southwest United States...

Yes, Delicate Arch. The background of the Utah license plate and also what people imagine when they imagine this part of the country.

We had gotten up at sunrise after sleeping very uncomfortably in the Subaru that was so packed with stuff that we couldn't even recline the front two seats. It was a gorgeous morning with not a cloud in the sky and we took off down a trail that was conveniently connected the the parking lot we happened to crash in. And best of all? Only about 5 other people were there when we arrived, making photos easy and the experience just that much better.

It blew my mind, obviously.

We spent the whole day wandering aimlessly around this incredible place, surrounded by old people (because apparently only old people enjoy looking at rock formations in 90 degree heat). Never the less, it was great.

We decided to stay that night in the tent, and it was probably one of the most miserable nights I've ever spent in one. Ever. Hands down. The wind was making the tent hit me in the head and I thought we were going to blow off a canyon somewhere. We ended up surviving though, and woke up to this sunrise.

It was a good day to be alive, and the days on this road trip only got better and better. This post is obnoxiously long, so I'm going to cut it here and keep writing about our epic road trip another day.
